Laurent Blanc saw his team only manage a 1-1 draw with Reims

Paris-Saint Germain manager Laurent Blanc saw his team only manage a 1-1 draw with Reims and he admitted that his team’s failure to take chances almost saw them suffer a shock defeat.

Edinson Cavani scored the goal for PSG but it was not enough as the opposition made them pay for their lacklustre finishing in front of goal. It was yet another disappointing result for the team that had begun the season with three consecutive wins. However, they have now drawn their last two league matches and it has allowed the likes of Rennes and Saint-Étienne to close the gap on the leaders.

Still, PSG remain overwhelming favourites for the league title partly because their primary challengers like Lyon and Marseille are nowhere to be seen near the top.

Siebatcheu gave a shock lead for Reims in the 83rd minute. However, they forgot the need to keep tight at the back after their over exuberant celebrations allowed PSG to capitalize almost immediately with Cavani. The Uruguayan striker has been thekey figure for PSG in this campaign. He already has five league goals to his name with three of them being the first strikes. Zlatan Ibrahimovic is nowhere to be seen in the league’s top goalscorer charts.

"Tonight we lacked just one extra goal. We needed to take our chances because we had several dangerous situations. But we didn't. And we could even have lost this match. We dominated the match, but our finishing was too poor to kill off Reims' hopes. We kept them in the match. It's our own fault. It's week six of the season, including four away matches, and we're still undefeated. We will take this point, even if we're not satisfied with it.We played very well, we created a lot more chances than our opponent and had most of the ball. We were only missing the goals," said Blanc.
